I live very close to Canada and used to go there fairly often. I feel like everyone probably hates Americans now, and I also wonder if I’d get hassled trying to re-enter the US. So sorry about the current state of affairs! I wish it was not so! I also wish they would make more cars in that Mustang’s color. We’re in a drab time there, too.😊
Oh the melodrama - I don’t know any Americans who have any ill toward Canadians and I don’t think my Canadian cousins have any ill will toward Americans. Objections to Trump‘s mouth and tariff policies sure, but Trump and his policies don’t reflect on Americans any more than the Canadian government‘s leftism reflects on Americans’ view of normal Canadians.
The only reason I would think twice about going to Canada these days is because they have become so leftist it’s almost the equivalent of going to Angleterre right now or God forbid France. Trump and his policies don’t pose threats to anybody. He’s pretty much a moderate Republican. The main threat from radical leftist / Islamofacists and it is very real, especially to Jewish people.
Enough of this tangent . This post is about something really important - old cars, not irrational fears
Last year $1600 to replace half the hydraulics so I could actually use my SL 500 as a convertible
This year, the other side went out but the repair cost is up to 1800 now - always used parts from overseas because you can’t get them anymore
So I figured I’d bite the bullet, but then it wouldn’t start - towed the beauty in - $1800 estimate and that’s only if nothing else is wrong other than the ignition coil blah blah blah because you have to take out the whole dash - to replace the $70 part
So now we’re up to $3600. Less than I spent last year - and the year before that - year after year, but the true joy is that for every dollar you spend on a clasaic car you get a magnificent rate of return on your investment of zero

Yeah, it’s sad. Hope the geopolitical winds will change before too long. Still try to get down for a visit sometimes, though!
