bacon ‘n’ eggs

grease ‘n’ brine'll mire
the clear running of eggs, 
skillet-scald a soft white 
all night longing, sear
the sweet canary blood 
of unborn affection 

still the yolk unbeaten 
endures the savory
the sizzle, the crunch
slurp 'n' yield 

oh to finally yield  
to smoke alarm bacon-fire
cracking the conscience of dawn
this morning, evening, this night 
this all-day breakfast of my soul
