Sunday Special
song title poem - Steely Dan
This month at the Writer pilgrim Substack, Writer Pilgrim by So Elite has been issuing a prompt challenge, a poem composed of song titles from a particular artist. Last week I did one with Jethro Tull songs. This week it’s Steely Dan. Again I am drawn to the music I listened to as a teen, but Steely Dan, to me, has no era. They reached their peak with Aja, 1977. Below is a slightly reworked version of the one posted at Writer Pilgrim.
Steely Dan song title poem
Aja
Peg
Josie
what a shame about me
Pearl of the quarter
Rose darling
Ida Lee
what a shame about me
Lunch with Gina
Janie runaway
gaslighting Abbie
negative girl
Babylon sisters
showbiz kids
what a shame about me
night by night
time out of mind
the royal scam:
pretzel logic
what a shame about me
don’t lose that number, Rikki

As the wife of an Aja fan I’m cringing even while I get the references…
But as a Jethro Tull fan if I didn’t say it earlier, nice job
Oh, yes. "The Royal Scam" even gave me inspiration for one of my novels...
