Monkey bars reminds of playground skirts upside down. Love the poem and Birds.

Then Tippi Hedren steps in. FYI, 2014 I visited(went on safari) to her Shambala preserve to protect endangered big cats. Several times since wild fires have raged and the cats were saved.

Tippi Hedren, Alfred Hitchcock's glacial, iconic and legendary star of his immortal chillers The Birds and Marnie (co-starring Sean Connery) has been President of the ROAR Foundation at the Shambala Preserve in Acton, California, since she founded it in 1983. One of Michael Jackson's tiger's "Sabu" is among the big cats under ROAR's protection. Please go to www.shambala.org for information about Tippi’s legislation (Big Cats and Public Safety Protection Act-H.R. 1998 and S.1381) to stop the breeding.

Yes, I learned a lot about her as I wrote the poem, including that she is still with us! Thank you for the link, Richard.

Happy Birthday Leon!

We feed “our crows” everyday.

Better than antagonizing them, for sure!

Very interesting in its delicately stern weave of concerns, particularly at this wobbly for me political moment, parenting and geriatric moment, Robert Hayde's poem about the slaughter of Cleveland's starlings, their bodies crunching underfoot as he awkwardly stalked a Cleveland public park in the dark, Tippi Hedren--how pretty!--human beauty, among so many other things, so touching when ovrerwhelmed by a swarm of beasts.

You paint the eerie scene. What a great experiment with subject inspiration and weave of last line.

The Dylan Thomas poem is one of my favorites. I love how you incorporate the line.

Crows are wedged betwen owls, vulture and hawks here but somehow master the roost as the most communal of those raptors, working together, ever eyeing our compromises and deceits. Love their apparitions here present, past and future. A fine prayer at the end though I fear the lament is getting much louder and hungrier.
