Another beautiful poem. From painting, to birthday to oranges always present at home. If nothing else, there's always a reason to connect when oranges are around. No reason, just orange. I like the symbolism in that and it keeps the poem together. Never heard of the painter and never seen this art work before. Happy Birthday!
Thank you, Pilgrim, I'll pass on the birthday wishes! Winslow Homer has a prominent place in American art history. This piece is atypical. I have a vivid memory from childhood seeing his painting, The Gulf Stream, in a book. The diametric opposite of domesticity. He's worth checking out.
A beautiful, evocative piece. The imagery of the orange, shared, is potent..
(for those unfamiliar with Homer, although he began as an illustrator, his ability to capture movement- and human gesture and posture (I think)especially in naval paintings, show him a master.
And I think of the way
in our home, somehow
(I know how), there are
always oranges
🧡so lovely
Thank you, Ann.
Mi casa, Tu casa .
My half, your half
Make a whole;
But we fulfill
Each other with sunshine
Ripe fruit taken in time.
We do our best! Thanks, Richard.

Thank you man of aran. Now that there’s a name I am sure it will pop up again and I will see his work elsewhere.
Beautiful.
Thanks, Briana. Glad you like it.
Another beauty of yours. 🧡

Thanks, Daniel. I actually don't know Spanish, so I plugged this into Google translate. Appreciate the appreciation!

Beautiful, 3 roses!
Really lovely going back and forth between something captured forever and the here and now.
Very glad it worked for you, Wes.
A lovely balance to this meditation, line after line; it makes it very worthwhile!
So glad! Thanks, Thomas.

Thank you, Patris. Yes, My first encounter as a child was The Gulf Stream. Emblazoned in my mind.
Such a great description of this very alive painting:
"and not actually still,
more like quivering
blessed life: primed
to pick and to eat"
Also, I just love the second stanza.
Thanks so much, Margaret, for your kind reading!
this is so lovely and calm and perfect, the two stanzas like a deep easy breath and a relaxed exhalation
Full of juicy gratitude. Wonderful. And nicely ended.
So glad you liked, it Ronald!
Beautiful poem.
Thanks so much, MK!
