It does? I once had a student whose surname was Stalin… his first name was a joke to me. Just couldn’t believe how the parents thought for putting that name for a child.
I'm confused. Surname or given name? I think you mean the latter. The parents, yes, that is very weird. On the other hand, it wasn't that long ago that in certain quarters of the West, 'Uncle Joe' (not Biden!) was still a revered and beloved figure. Your student might have had such parents? Oh, and my name is perhaps not an exact rhyme. The first a sound in my name is a short /a/ as in 'cat' and the a sound in Stalin is probably a short /o/ as in 'got', but I've heard the short /a/ used as well. The following schwa is a match, though. Call it a half-rhyme, or 'slant' rhyme!
The Old Gulag is the new frozen pool you don’t return from the waste land where your writings and thought wave become the vibrant butterfly’s wings flapping heard around the world in another corner of compassion crushing.
Oh how history repeats itself. What a piece!
Or like Stalin and my name, as someone once said, it rhymes!

Surname was Stalin and given name was another dictator’s name. But let’s not drop names. It was just a weird combo. Of names that is.
Hmm. I see. Anyway, thanks as always Pilgrim!
Wow.
All through history……………will it never end?
Nope
Stanger than fiction...
The heart of Stalin still beats somewhere in the Kremlin
I think we can guess
Ah, such happy times.
Yup, the good ol' days, out at the dacha by the lake. Idyllic!
Just a laugh a minute with that crowd.

The more things change..
Now you see them, now you don't. There are people who watch who's where.
Be careful what you predict. It may come to pass, but Destiny may put a different spin on it.
Thanks for reminding us, Alan.
